Very pleased tough and looks almost impossible to remove without key.

by:

I purchased this lock for a way to keep people honest while my trailer was attached to my truck . Knowing the lock is cheap and Master Lock brand, disappointingly the lock itself traps moisture inside even with the cap closed and facing downwards - a bit of silicone around the cap would help. Because of the moisture, it’s has corroded a bit inside making the key almost impossible to insert. I’ve had to soak the lock with WD40 to help the key go in. It still mostly works but I wouldn’t recommend it. The problem is there’s not many cheap alternatives to lock the latch while your trailer is attached to your vehicle. Skip this and find another option.

by:

Great little item does the job. If I had one issue. The key gets stiff to turn I'm not sure if it's going to jam at some point which is a shame because I really like it.

by:

Product is just as described and very reasonable in price. Shipping was also very quick. Thanks!

by:

Called to order another lock because I liked the one so much I had gotten earlier in the week. Customer Service was awesome. Information was gathered by the rep. that helped me with my decision. I'll come back again for all of my trailer needs.

Great lock

by:

Better than nothing . Should slow down the bad guys if they want to try & steal the trailer . They better be faster than the 9MM !

by:

Excellent deterrent for thieves. Works on a multitude of trailers.

by:

Works well for what it is, keeps tongue engaged and provides minor deterrence to thieves, adjustable rungs allow for many widths and configurations to secure tongue lock. I use one on all my trailers which are all a bit different. This one is adaptable.

by:

i worked good with my trailer and it fits perfect

by:

great lock

I usually store my Anderson hitch drawbar in the coupler. I had a Bulldog installed on my Airstream (well worth the $500 it cost). I use this lock when among friends to prevent them from dropping the Anderson on a foot if they are curious about the Bulldog. This lock would not deter a thief.

by:

Went the extra mile to find what I need ed!

by:

The lock worked very well. It fit perfectly into the existing hitch pin hole. The variable length on the lock shaft allowed me to snug up the lock to the hitch mechanism which I think will make it more difficult for any thief to cut or remove the lock. The key operation was simple and easy. I use the lock pin when my trailer is attached to my vehicle and also when it is not attached so as to serve as a secondary trailer coupler lock and not allow the coupler to be opened for thieves to insert their ball hitch and steal the trailer and boat. Great product.

by:

Easy ordering process!
Fast shipping!
Product
as described.
Installed easily and seems to be a quality product .
Feels very solid.
Installed on my gearspace 34 cargo carrier.
Great price!

by:

I purchased a pin type trailer coupler lock and a ball type coupler lock. Both work well and were easy to install. Of the many products available from etrailer, it was easy to find what I needed. It was shipped the same day as ordered and arrived quickly. As a first time customer, I am very pleased with the results. I will shop at etrailer.com for future needs and wants. As a matter of fact, I had a product question quickly answered by etrailer experts and ordered the suggested item today. I give etrailer 5 1/2 stars!

by:

As usual when dealing with etrailer, everything came in as advertised! Great people to deal with!

by:

I don't rate this product very high since the Master Lock assembly is poorly built. I believe it would not take a thief long to break the lock and just pull the pin out. The lock is even hard to operate with the key. Not recommended
I am using this product with the coupler lock I purchased. I am thinking if its worth the hassle to send it back.

by:

Johnathon was my sales rep that I dealt with when I had questions. He was great and he kept track of my order and when the trailer hitch was not available from the manufacturer until late March, he helped me choose another one and sent it to me with the freight free of charge. It took only two days to arrive and I am very happy with the hitch and wiring harness. Highly recommend.

by:

I believe it will be functional as it is advertised, but I does not appear to be as well build as most Master Lock products have purchase before. I does fit my trailer hitch that is was ordered for.

by:

great lock

by:

Love this product. The stainless steel is a key feature (no pun intended)

Still kicking

by:

Had to drill out the whole in the trailer latch to make this product fit
It is exactly what I wanted. Now my trailer is safe from theft and uncoupling.

  • Are Bolts Necessary to Mount Adjustable Channel Trailer Coupler
While I completely understand it can be a bit of a pain and more time-consuming than you'd like, I have to recommend you only use the included bolts that come with an adjustable channel trailer coupler such as # CTA-400. Using these bolts (which are grade 8 bolts) ensure the coupler maintains its capacity and stability for the safest towing set up. I know it's not the answer you were looking for but the only option to help prevent theft is to add a lock to the latch, the Master Lock Adjustable...

While we do not have a buzzer/warning light for the manual parking brakes on your trailer the simplest idea would be to have a tag made you can attach to a Hitch Pin Lock # 2847DAT. Since this will require you to manually lock and unlock the coupler it will serve as a reminder to lock and unlock the parking brake when you connect/disconnect from the trailer. The Master Lock Adjustable Trailer Coupler Lock - Stainless Steel # 2847DAT is not offered in a keyed alike option, so if you order 3 you will have 3 separate keys. The Master Lock Adjustable Trailer Coupler Lock, # 2847DAT, is designed to fit coupler latch widths from 5/8 inches up to 2 inches wide. In all likelihood, it will fit your coupler. I recommend measuring to make sure. If you get a width that is less than 2 inches and has a hole for a lock that is 1/4 inches or less in diameter, this lock will fit. • Pin or Lock Recommendation for a Yoke Latch Coupler
It sounds like you are talking about a latch pin which would go through the latch and prevent it from opening. It isn't a necessary part but usually what people do with the latch holes is use a latch lock. I recommend Master Lock Adjustable Trailer Coupler Lock - Stainless Steel Item # 2847DAT because it is adjustable to fit latches with different widths from 5/8 inch wide to 2 inch wide. The pin has a 1/4 inch diameter which is the most common latch hole size. I have linked a video review...

You will not be able to use one lock coded to two different vehicle keys. Which leaves you the option of having a separate coupler lock for each vehicle to use or using a Master Lock Adjustable Trailer Coupler Lock # 2847DAT that comes with 2 keys you can leave in each vehicle.

  • Pin Style Coupler Lock Recommendation that Requires at 9/16 inch Span
A snug fit is preferred when picking out a pin style coupler lock for a trailer coupler. If you have 9/16 of an inch from the outer edges of the latch on your coupler I wouldn't recommend going with a 1/2 inch span lock as it would be too short and wouldn't latch. Instead I would go with the Master Lock Coupler Lock part # 2847DAT as it can be adjusted down to a 5/8 inch span and would work well for you. I attached an install video for this lock for you to check out as well.

  • Trailer Coupler Lock Recommendation for a Bulldog A-Frame Coupler # BD43805W0317
The Fulton Gorilla Guard coupler locks, like # 63227, fit on couplers that have a lip. That is part of what holds them in place. Since the Bulldog coupler, # BD43805W0317, does not have a lip, it would require a different type of lock. A lock like # FA86-0015-316, would be a good choice. It fits 1-7/8 inch, 2 inch, and 2-5/16 inch couplers. Another options is a lock like # 2847DAT. This type of lock will prevent the latch from moving. I have included a video review of the lock for you.

The main difference between our etrailer.com Coupler Lock, item # e98890, and the Master Lock Adjustable Trailer Coupler Lock - Stainless Steel, item # 2847DAT, is the style of the locks. The Masterlock has the advantage of being able to be used on many different styles of coupler and has a normal style key that can be duplicated at a local hardware store.
